A fresh summer starter for your Italian meal.
Bruschette are traditional Italian snacks. They are a tasty morsel that can be enjoyed in a variety of ways. Bruschette are made with the same ingredients as pizza (flour, salt, and water), but they are baked rather than fried like pizza. You can easily make your own homemade Bruschette at home using a few simple ingredients. It’s easy, and you’ll have a great time doing it!
Nothing beats a perfectly crisp, light bruschetta as an Italian snack. Everyone loves Bruschetta, so keep it simple and try this! It’s one of the best dinners and makes a great meal when combined with tomatoes, garlic, and pesto sauce.
Ingredients (serves 4)
• 2 large ripe tomatoes, diced
• 2-3 garlic cloves, peeled
• 8 basil leaves, ripped
• extra virgin olive oil
• salt and pepper
• 300 g Tuscan-style bread
Procedure
Cut the tomatoes in half, remove the seeds then dice. Mix the tomatoes, basil leaves, oil and salt and pepper together in a bowl. Set aside for at least 15 minutes. Toast the bread and rub one side of it with the garlic cloves. Spoon the tomato mixture onto the bread and serve.
**Crostini and Bruschetta are always done in the oven and not under the grill.**
