Carrara is our starting point. From it we go through Fosdinovo and Equi Terme. Then, we go to Codiponte, you can admire a Romanesque church definitely worth your time! A very particular atmosphere permeates this building: the interior is simple and severe. The columns have the original capitals and you can find the remains of an ancient baptistery and a baptismal font.

Casola is near to Codiponte, so that is our next stop. The main square is dominated by a cylindrical tower, part of an ancient defense system. The remains comprise also some buildings and the original gates of the walls. In Casola, you can find a very interesting popular tradition that has survived throughout the centuries: the “Canto del Maggio“, a kind of traveling theatre performed every summer.

A trip in Lunigiana, from the coast to the castles, does not forget the landscapes. They are the main performers of the emotional journey throughout this beautiful land. In the Apuan foothills there is a known SPA area with sulphur waters and hot streams. There is also a beautiful underground river system. Definetely, a must visit!
